EIC Publishes Strategic Plan for Mid- to Long-Term Energy Storage Portfolio
The European Innovation Council (EIC) has released its Strategic Plan for the “Mid to Long Term and Systems Integrated Energy Storage” (MDLES) portfolio. Launched in 2022, the portfolio focuses on developing breakthrough thermal and electrical energy storage solutions to support Europe's energy security and sustainability goals. These technologies aim to reduce reliance on critical raw materials and enhance the integration of renewables.
MeBattery is proud to have joined the innovative projects selected for this portfolio in 2023.
The portfolio covers a range of cutting-edge technologies, including metal-air batteries, redox flow systems, and hybrid thermal-electrochemical storage, aimed at improving grid stability and industrial energy use.
To achieve these aims, the Strategic Plan outlines collaborative goals, regular meetings, and joint research efforts to accelerate technological development and shape future policy.
In detail, the Plan includes portfolio activities at different levels such as laying out concrete inter-project synergies, transition of technology to innovation as well as IP management, communication and dissemination, and regulatory frameworks.
