Investigating the mediating process with synchrotron radiation
On 13-15 December 2024, the MeBattery researchers from Burgos University travelled to Diamond Light Source in Oxfordshire, UK to carry out some operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy investigations on redox mediated flow batteries.
Diamond Light Source is the UK’s national synchrotron light source science facility. The synchrotron works like a giant microscope using bright light produced by electrons. It’s 10.000 times more powerful than traditional microscopes making it possible for scientists to study a vast range or subject matters.
Burgos University used Diamond’s facilities to investigate the mediating process between the solid booster and the redox mediator by operando X-ray absorption spectroscopy using synchrotron radiation. The research stay helped the team to validate the setup and investigate the charge transfer between solid booster and redox mediator to continue their research.
