University of Aveiro joins MATSUS25
MATSUS, the Materials for Sustainable Development Conference, is a recurring activity in the MeBattery outreach calendar. So, we were very much looking forward to this year’s event which took place on 3-7 March 2025 in Sevilla, Spain.
This year, João Coutinho from University of Aveiro presented a study on thermodynamic strategies to enhance the energy density of organic redox-active materials in batteries. The research explores how modifications in molecular structure, co-solvent selection, and solute-solvent interactions can significantly improve solubility and performance, contributing to the development of more sustainable energy storage technologies. He took part in the symposium “Post-Lithium Technologies toward Sustainable Batteries - #SusBatT”.
We are also very proud that Rebeca Marcilla from IMDEA Energy was one of the scientific organizers of MATSUS25. The event was packed with symposia addressing different topics in the field of materials science and technology. In the heart of it all: sustainability and the need to find alternative energy technologies that overcome fossil-fuel technologies and address the ever-increasing demand for energy efficiency.
