Institute of Science and Technology Austria

The Institute of Science and Technology Austria (ISTA) is a young Ph.D. granting institute located in the city of Klosterneuburg, 18 km from the center of Vienna. The Institute is dedicated to world-leading, fundamental research in life sciences, physical and formal sciences. IST Austria fosters both theoretical and experimental research, with an emphasis on close and meaningful collaborations between the two camps. The Institute was inaugurated in 2009, with currently 67 research groups on campus, and plan to grow to about 150 research groups by 2036. Despite its short history, IST Austria has already proven to be an institute of international standing: the Nature Index 2018 ranked IST Austria No. 3 among the world’s best research institutes (normalized by size of research institute).

Role within MeBattery

In MeBattery ISTA will develop synthetic protocols of different varieties of Prussian Blue Analogs (PBAs) with high purity. The idea is to produce PBAs with different redox potential to optimize charge transfer reaction with the developed redox mediators also within the project. Finally, we will synthetize PBAs with different structural properties (size, porosity, etc.) for kinetic studies.
